The urbike AERO is the first pedelec from urbike and is ideal for those who are looking for something “edgier”. The extravagantly designed Aero follows in the way of modern, high-end road, track, or triathlon bikes. The frame geometry is somewhat more aggressive than with a steel frame, making the AERO more flexible and agile. The frame tubes are made using hydro-pneumatic molding and consist of Al6061 aluminum. The welds are sanded by hand and give the model its unique, “single cast” appearance. The seat tube has a recess like those of high-quality triathlon bikes. The purpose of this is to keep the chainstays shorter, resulting in a shorter wheelbase, faster acceleration, more agile handling, and better aerodynamics. One special feature is the elaborate Aero seat post like those found exclusively on the highest-quality track/triathlon bikes. The dropouts are internally and externally reinforced with steel plates to protect this part of the frame against damage from the axle nuts. The head tube houses a fully integrated sealed headset. In order to provide increased stiffness and greater aerodynamics, the whole unit has a diameter of 1 1/8” at the top, and of 1 1/5” at the bottom. This is known as a “tapered” head tube and has almost become the standard with high-quality road bikes. This also allows us to give to bicycle an even smoother look, as the frame and fork are almost seamlessly connected. As something unique to this price class, the Aero has an elaborately produced seat tube with recess similar to those seen on triathlon bikes as well as a special seat post. The fork also consists of aluminum and the head tube houses a fully integrated sealed headset. The Aero is available in sizes S, M, and L. For the handlebar shape, you can choose between straight and curved as well as, optionally, between bullhorn and racing bike handlebars. The racer has a weight of approx. 10 kg depending on the configuration. Also available in a “Duospeed” edition with 2-gear Sturmey-Archer kick-shift hub gear (+€90). Ideal for longer, straight rides with greater speed and easier for hills.
